We represented a mining company in the Central African region in two ICC emergency arbitrations and then two parallel ICC arbitrations in Paris and Geneva against a Central Asian mining company.
The dispute arose out of a joint venture agreement and a lease agreement concerning a mining licence for copper exploitation governed by the law of the host State. It raised complex issues of governance amongst shareholders and involved parallel court proceedings in the host-State.
As a result of a sound strategy and our strong advocacy, we secured a mutually beneficial settlement for the continuation of the joint venture.
Amount at stake: in excess of USD 1 billion.
